The classic car part of the museum was really cool, too!
A Messerschmit.
Early German bubble car:
This is a 48-year-old mini that two Kiwis renovated and took to the Bonneville Salt Flat Races and set a world speed record. They're going back next year to try to beat their record.
Hard to tell in this, but this is a Reliant Regal - a three-wheeled car. However, instead of having two wheels in the front and one in the back, it has one in the front and two in the back. Apparently, they're almost impossible to drive. If you can find it, there's an episode of Top Gear in which they test drive a Reliant Robin, it's hilarious.
The collection was impressive. There are a lot of classic cars in New Zealand, because it's such a small country and imports are so expensive people tend to hang onto and repair things rather replacing them. I quite regularly saw classic cars while on my road trip.
Interior of a stupidly expensive Maybach:
There was another warehouse out back, with even more cars:
There was also an opportunity to peer into the workshop and what they're currently working on restoring.
And there was a Honda NSX parked out front.
