This statue dates back to the mid-nineteenth century. It was at one point a water fountain, which made music when the water ran through it. Sadly, when it was relocated to its current location, it wasn't reassembled correctly and no one knows how to make it work anymore.
Friday was gloriously sunny, and I snapped a few pictures of the bay while out walking the dogs.
Saturday I worked on the taco cart for the South Dunedin Street Festival as Borracho B-(wench, for my younger and/or readers with delicate sensibilities). I had a grand time slinging chips and chili and people watching. This is the third year for the festival, and it continues to grow.
The kids in the Chinese Dragon costumes were awesome. I wish I had better pictures of them.
They also interacted beautifully with the crowd. The little girl in the blue dress (it was an Elsa costume) was terrified at first, but the dragon eventually got her to come over and play.
The ninja turtle was also pretty cool. There were a lot of cute kids running around in costume as well.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Dunedin, and was almost reluctant to leave. But I was definitely excited to see more of the country on my mini road trip!
