Farewell New Zealand

I rented a car to drive to Auckland, stopping briefly in New Plymouth along the way. These pictures, however, are from the Kapiti Coast.

After spending quite a bit of time in Auckland traffic, I made it to my hotel in the center of the city. The next day I went to a French place recommended by friends, Le Garde Manger. http://www.legardemanger.co.nz/ Walked through this park on the way.

Looking back to the Sky Tower. I was staying next to it again, where I stayed when I was first in New Zealand.

From there, it was on to the Auckland War Memorial Museum. One last Māori Cultural Exhibition.

I still have no idea how they got two full sized fighter planes to the third floor of this museum, but they are there.

The stained glass ceilings are quite something.

One last look out at Rangitoto from the front steps of the museum.

It wasn't yet time to go to the airport, so I wandered through the Domain for awhile. The gardens and glass houses were in fine form. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

The iconic Koru. Inspiration for a mainstay of native design, symbolizing new birth.

Soon it was time to leave. I was glad to be heading back to see family and friends, but I was very sad to be leaving this magical place.
