I again spent a few days with family in California, as it's nice not to do the whole long trip in one go. (New Zealand is very, very far away.)
My Aunt and Uncle had relocated to a lovely little condo community with a green belt behind it.
We spent a few days at their cabin in Big Sur, which is as beautiful as always. Despite all of the recent upheaval in the area, as far as I know their cabin still stands (it's just hard to get there right now). Pictures after the jump.
A trip to Big Sur isn't complete without a visit to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.
We also went to Pfeiffer Beach. It was a slow season, and a bit cold and windy, but there were more people on the beach than some beaches I visited in high summer in New Zealand. It was strange to be back around so many people.
Stopped at a cafe and gallery on the way back that had a lovely garden.
We were quite lucky with the weather.
And of course we had to go to Nepenthe.
It was lovely, restful few days.
