Dunedin Snapshots

Back in Dunedin I settled in to housesit for some friends of my friends, looking after their wonderful cat, Zanzibar. I was almost directly across the bay from where my friends live, and one of the first nights I was there a rainbow rather helpfully pointed them out for me, lest I feel lonely.

The views from the house were rather lovely.

I occasionally had a vehicle, and I occasionally didn't, but it wasn't really a hardship as this is where I would wait for the bus.

On one of the days I did have a car, I drove out to the mouth of the bay and took some picture.

On another day, my friends and I took the high road back to their place. The views were all right.

This the view from their place. I mean, if you have to have a view, it's all right, I guess.

On particular December day, the clouds were having a bit of fun.

I also found out what happens in New Zealand if you tell your barista that you're going to go see the National Theatre screening of Hamlet.

You may remember from several ages ago when I spoke of Dunedin's midwinter carnival. Well, as a fundraiser for the carnival, around Christmas many of the lanterns were set up in a warehouse where you could wander through at leisure and bask in their beauty. There were a few aerialists playing in the shadows as well. It was spectacular!
